I really enjoy photographs. And when I turn on my computer, I like to see a great photo there on my desktop. It's easy to accomplish this. An image on your computer not only shows you something beautiful or interesting to look at every day, but it also allows you the freedom to customize your computer experience. For me it is essential to have control over my work environment. But even if you are not working on your computer, it's a nice thing to have.

Basically the size of monitor is very important. You need to make sure that your image that you are using to cover you entire monitor is the exact specifications as your resolution. In Windows Vista, you go to Control Panel, then Adjust screen resolution. 1024 X 768 is a common screen size. This is your standard monitor about 5 years ago. Now most good monitors show a resolution of 1680 x 1050. Another common screen size is 1280 X 768.

The result of not matching the exact resolution of your image to your monitor will be a stretched wallpaper. Some people do not see the stretch especially when it is minimal. But if not properly size for your monitor, your wallpaper will not look right. And having the freedom of your work environment is part of making these little changes.

If you want to get advanced, you will need to calibrate your monitor. This can be done with a variety of products including the Spyder calibration tool.
